Patrick to Appear at Library of Congress May 22

Patrick will be appearing at Washington D.C.’s Library of Congress on May 22, to help celebrate the past 100 years of comic strip creation and history. He’ll be part of a panel titled, “Cartooning and Our Culture,” presented by the National Cartoonists Society and the LOC’s Prints and Photographs Division.

The free event kicks off the annual NCS Reuben Awards weekend.The discussion will be moderated by King Features Syndicate editor Brendan Burford. In addition to Patrick, the panel will feature some of today’s greatest illustrators, including Brian Walker (Hi and Lois), Jeff Keane (The Family Circus), Hilary Price (Rhymes with Orange), Ray Billingsley (Curtis), and Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial cartoonist Mike Peters (Mother Goose & Grimm).

Burford will lead the discussion which will take the audience through the history of King Features, the traditions and historic influence of comics on our culture, and the growth in diversity among characters and creators as well as the evolution of the comic pages overall.
