With the holiday season upon us and 2020 coming to a close, I give heartfelt thanks to all of you for weathering this crazy year together with us. And special thanks go to those essential workers who have been heroic in their efforts to keep us safe and fed, and who have come to the rescue for so many of us in our time of need. Among our other heroes, I am so appreciative for those who have remained committed to helping animals. So many of our lives have been on pause at home while others among us have been in high gear holding it all together. As Pope Francis wrote this week, “They remind us that our lives are a gift and we grow by giving of ourselves, not preserving ourselves but losing ourselves in service.”

Speaking of gratitude — The Gift of Nothing Day (December 15) is rapidly approaching. A teacher in Singapore recently contacted us to say her whole school is taking part in the celebration! You can read more about that, and ideas for things you can do to participate in your own way, on our blog.

Keep an eye out for the MUTTS on Sunday, December 20. I am paying tribute to my favorite holiday special. Christmastime is here!

Together, let’s enjoy the season and then put 2020 in the rearview mirror. Here’s to a great 2021! Thank you to everyone who has adopted or fostered — or donated to any charity — this year.
