New Jersey newspaper The Sentinal, recently ran an article about the Edison Wetlands Association’s newest resident. Edison, the Vietnamese pot-bellied pig, was named with help from MUTTS readers.
Now four months old, the piglet was brought to Triple C Ranch in Edison, NJ, by members of the Edison High School Student Council after they purchased him from a local farm for a fall fund raiser. Edison has found a permanent home at the ranch alongside chicken, goat, and turkey neighbors.
“All of the animals that we take are rescued because they have no place else to go,” EWA Executive Director Robert Spiegel said.
MUTTS creator Patrick McDonnell knows Eddy’s found a great spot, “… he is lucky, since he has a cozy home at EWA’s Triple C Ranch for life.”
MUTTS.com spread the word about the contest via blog posts and social media outreach. Readers voted for the name Edison, over other choices such as Tesla, Romeo, and Pigasso. Two lucky readers were chosen at random to receive signed prints of the upcoming Spring 2014 MUTTS strip that will feature Edison as a character.
