On Saturday, May 13, the Princeton Library in Princeton, New Jersey will host “A Celebration of Companion Animals with Patrick McDonnell,” an event featuring a presentation and live reading from Patrick, a panel discussion with animal advocates, and appearances by local rescue groups (and adoptable pets)!

Patrick will kick things off by sharing his thoughts on helping homeless animals — in particular, why he’s so passionate about it — and by reading excerpts from “Darling, I Love You,” his recent collaboration with poet Daniel Ladinsky. He’ll also discuss the newly updated book “MUTTS Shelter Stories: Love. Guaranteed.”

After that, Patrick will join Brian Hackett (HSUS NJ State Director), Jeff Campbell (author), and Heather Cammisa (St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center) in a panel discussion that will be moderated by Kathy Schatzmann of the HSUS.

At 4:15 p.m. (following the discussion), attendees are invited to convene at Hinds Plaza, where local animal rescue groups will be gathered with adoptable pets. Patrick and Jeff will also be present at the plaza to sign books (available for purchase at the event).
