MUTTs 20th Anniversary

2014 is going to be an exciting year at MUTTS.com. We’re celebrating the 20th anniversary of Patrick McDonnell’s beloved comic! That’s 140 dog years! Over 7,000 MUTTS strips featuring Mooch, Earl, and the rest of the gang have appeared around the world. New characters have been added, serious animal and environmental issues have been addressed, and there have been countless laughs based on the love we have for our own companion animals. And bellies have been rubbed!

MUTTS made its debut on September 5, 1994, in 75 newspapers with a strip that featured Ozzie on a car ride home, with Earl’s tongue wagging in the breeze. In the last panel, Earl’s stretched out tongue drags on the ground. Ozzie says to Earl “We’re home.” Patrick felt that his characters had found their ‘forever’ home..

Patrick has been working on a lot of exciting big projects that we will be revealing throughout the year. And because we love parties (and cake!) we’ll be celebrating all year long. MUTTS.com will also have lots of great reflections on the past two decades, a fun contest, and a few more surprises.

All of us at MUTTS.com—especially Patrick—are grateful to the loyal and dedicated MUTTS readers who make this job so fun. We love reading your comments, hearing your real-life Shelter Stories, and seeing all the cute furry faces you send us.

Shtay tuned for a whole year of fun!
