On July 15, my newest book The Little Things was released into the world. It’s a MUTTS treasury that brings together some of my favorite recent strips, including Mooch dreaming of Australia where he meets up with a koala bear, a platypus, and a Tasmanian devil. There are also tales of Mooch as a kitten and Earl as a pup, and a chance meeting with Santa Claus!?!
The heart of MUTTS has always been about the little things. The small, fleeting moments that can so easily pass us by unless we pause to notice. In a world that often celebrates speed and spectacle, the MUTTS gang (like our beloved pets) invites us to slow down and surrender to the present moment.
One of the most powerful ways we can rediscover this sense of wonder and calm is by trying to see the world through the eyes of animals: our beloved pets, yes, but also the creatures we may overlook. Through MUTTS, I’ve tried to do just that.
I hope The Little Things brings some quiet joy and smiles to your day. I hope it reminds you to look out the window, to breathe, and to spend time in the natural world. And most of all, I hope it brings you closer to the animals and people you love.
