There's something special about sharing our precious time with the beings we love. The deep bonds and tender moments that connect us and make us realize we're all in this together. Earl and Mooch, Ozzie and Earl, Millie and Mooch, Frank and Millie, Bip and Bop, Sparky and Doozy. You and Me.

That spirit is at the heart of my newest MUTTS treasury, You and Me, which will be released on April 21. The book’s cover features best friends Earl and Mooch with their arms around each other. It’s an image that has taken on a life of its own over the years. Some of you may recognize it from the New Jersey animal-friendly license plates, where a portion of the proceeds helps fund low-cost spay and neuter programs. I’ve always loved that this MUTTS image has helped real animals in the world.

And, inside the book is something especially meaningful to me: the complete seven-week Guard Dog rescue story told in its original format.

Guard Dog’s journey, from isolation to friendship and belonging, remains one of the most important stories I’ve told in MUTTS. It’s about compassion, patience, and the transformative power of kindness … themes that feel especially meaningful right now.

If you’d like to reserve a copy of the book, signed editions are available for preorder now from our team at mutts.com.

Thank you, as always, for sharing the MUTTS world with me.

— Patrick

Dear Patrick,

The Mutts daily email strip is the first email I read. (the 2nd is AWAD) Your cast of characters are wonderful and always makes me want to hug them thru the monitor.

Also, I will always be grateful for you giving Guard Dog his freedom, a good home, and Doozy to love him. I was waiting with bated breath to see what happening those seven weeks!. I remember at least twice emailing your site and asking that you let Guard Dog have a real life, please. I always got a lovely reply from a person named Matt. They always told me that you intended to free him someday, and I’m glad Sparky has a life with meaning now. Love your artwork and have several signed comic prints.

I look forward to many more years/adventures with Mutts.
