It’s every animal shelter worker’s dream – and it came true at the Summit County Animal Control in Akron, Ohio. Every single animal at the shelter found a home. The shelter was completely empty… and silent.
This is the sixth year that the shelter has held its annual adopt-a-thon. This year saw 300 people lined up before the shelter even opened, waiting to bring home a forever friend. To make the day even more magical, a special pair of “Shelter Angels” anonymously donated the fees for 50 adoptions. In all, 93 adoptions took place within the first 90 minutes of the event.
“This was definitely a miracle,” says director Christine Fatheree. Make that every shelter pet’s dream too. Congratulations to the Summit County Animal Control center and staff, and to all the families welcoming a new furry friend into their homes.
