Animal rescue workers and prospective pet parents, set the date! Clear the Shelters is happening on Saturday, August 18, 2018.

Clear the Shelters is an annual nationwide adoption drive, founded in 2015 by NBCUniversal. This year, hundreds of animal shelters and rescue groups across the country — including organizations in Puerto Rico, Hawaii, and Alaska — are set to participate by offering waived or reduced fees for the adoption of shelter animals.

NBC- and Telemundo-owned stations nationwide will work with these groups to promote their events locally. Then, actress and animal lover Jane Lynch will host a Clear the Shelters recap special on NBC television stations on Saturday, August 25.

To locate a participating shelter near you, visit CleartheShelters.com.

Rescue workers in the MUTTS community, is your local shelter or rescue group planning something exciting for Clear the Shelters? Is there a particular animal you’re hoping finds his or her forever home? Send us a message at blog@mutts.com letting us know how you plan to celebrate. (Or, even better, send us your rescue stories — and photos — during or after the event.) We might feature your organization in an upcoming blog or social media post!
