Meet Shtinky Puddin'
Shtinky Puddin’, also known as Jules, is a striped kitten with a passionate heart. Like his hero Dr. Jane Goodall, he knows that all creatures are connected — and that it's up to each of us to protect our fellow animals.
Shtinky Puddin': A Voice for All Creatures
The youngest of Mooch and Earl’s friends, Shinky Puddin' is a sensitive kitten with a radiant heart, the accidental wisdom of a philosopher, and an uncanny knack for getting lost. His favorite activities include spreading awareness about animal rights, giving great hugs, and finding ways to teach the world to purr.
He first appeared in the MUTTS strip in 1996, when Earl and Mooch discovered "a new" friend.
They decided to give their "orphan kitty" a name: Shtinky Puddin'.
The trio embarked on a long journey to help Shtinky find his way back home. With help from a few animal-friendly humans, their new friend was reunited with his family, who also revealed his true name (Jules).
But Shtinky never lost his adventurous spirit! Over the years, his curiosity has taken him around his neighborhood and far beyond, leading him to connect with, learn from, and speak up for animals all around the world.
Shtinky's greatest wish is to save ALL animals, but as a striped tabby, tigers are closest to his heart.
His mentor, a stray cat named Noodles, offers encouragement and guidance about the ways of the world. But sometimes, it's Shtinky who seems to be the wise one.
Shtinky's compassion extends to people, too — especially those special "angels" who dedicate their lives to helping animals.
His favorite human is Dr. Jane Goodall, who was the greatest advocate for animals and the planet of our time (and the inspiration behind many other MUTTS comic strips).
Whenever Shtinky feels overwhelmed, he thinks of Jane's dedication to help animals and the natural world, and it motivates him to keep going.
His friends help, too, of course.
He knows that saving the world means spreading compassion (and hugs)!
It also means using your voice to speak up for others.
Wise beyond his years, Shtinky has learned the importance of finding inner peace.
He also knows how to stay "rooted."
Most importantly, he knows when to ask for help — because good things happen when we all work together.
